6:50 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith apartment. The cause of the alarm was smoke from burned food. The area was cleared of smoke and the alarm was reset.
7:39 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Barrows Hall. The cause of the alarm was smoke from cooking bacon. The area was cleared of smoke and the alarm was reset.
Sunday, Nov. 25
9:01 p.m. A student reported that she had accidentally backed her car into a 30-minute-parking sign outside of South Hall. No one was injured. A work order was filed to fix the sign.
9:46 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Police Department responded to a report of suspicious persons in the Conservatory parking lot. The individuals were not students, and one was cited for public intoxication.
Monday, Nov. 26
4:30 p.m. A student reported the theft of a Zune mp3 player (valued at $100), black leather wallet, ID, cash and a gift card from an unlocked locker in the varsity locker room at Philips Gym.
5:18 p.m. A student reported the theft of an ID, bike key, cell phone and gray sweatpants from a cardio bench at Philips Gym on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
11:55 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a strong odor of marijuana from a room on the second floor of South Hall. There was no answer upon knocking, and a Life Safety inspection was completed. Black duct tape was removed from the smoke detector, and a tactical knife in plain view was confiscated and transported to the Safety & Security Office for safekeeping.
Tuesday, Nov. 27
8:45 a.m. A student reported the theft of her blue canvas backpack, a wallet containing two credit cards, $20 and two binders of music from an unattended room in Robertson Hall. A search of the area was made, but none of the items were recovered.
10:40 a.m. A student reported the theft of a black Lands’ End jacket, valued at $50, from her room in Langston Hall. The theft is currently under investigation.
