Thursday, Feb. 10

5:33 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the second floor of East Hall. The cause of the activation was found to be smoke from burnt food. The area was cleared and the alarm reset.

Friday, Feb. 11

12:31 a.m. An officer on routine patrol of Langston Hall, detected a strong odor of marijuana from a room on the first floor. Contact was made with occupants of the room, who denied smoking. A grinder with an odor of burnt marijuana was confiscated and turned over to the Oberlin Police Department.

1:22 a.m. An officer on routine patrol of Barrows Hall, detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana from a room on the second floor. Contact was made with the occupants of the room, who denied smoking anything in the room. A grinder, in plain view, was confiscated and turned over to the Oberlin Police Department.

1:50 a.m. An officer doing a routine building check at Burton Hall observed water flowing from under a door at the Review office. The manager on call was notified and a plumber responded to shut off the water. A work order was filed for repairs.

2:09 a.m. A student reported her two coats missing from a friend’s house on Woodland Street. One coat is tan in color with a lambskin lining, valued at $90, and the other is a black down coat valued at $60. A Samsung cell phone was also in the pocket. The incident is being investigated.

8:05 a.m. Grounds staff reported vandalism to a section of fencing in the Woodland Street parking lot. A work order was filed for repair.

5:56 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Tank Hall first-floor kitchen. Pizza toppings fell into the oven, creating smoke and activating the alarm. The alarm was silenced and reset.

10:48 p.m. Officers responded to a reported unauthorized party on the second floor of Dascomb Hall. Several underage students were found drinking alcohol in the room. The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of.

11:05 p.m. Officers responded to a reported beer pong party on the third floor of Barrows Hall. Upon arrival, students had left the room. Several cans of beer were confiscated and disposed of.

Saturday, Feb. 12

1:14 a.m. Officers were requested at Hales Gym in the men’s locker room to assist with an unresponsive, intoxicated female student. She was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

1:28 a.m. Officers responded to a noise complaint on West College Street. An unauthorized party was taking place, but upon an officer’s arrival, students were found exiting the apartment.

8:40 a.m. An officer on patrol observed graffiti spray-painted on all four sides of Johnson House barn. The graffiti was sprayed with yellow paint. A work order was filed for removal.

7:50 a.m. An officer on patrol observed two more sections of fencing vandalized in the Woodland Street parking lot. A work order was filed.

Sunday, Feb. 13

12:42 p.m. An officer responded to Baldwin Cottage kitchen to assist two students who burned their hands on an oven knob. Injuries were minor and neither requested medical attention. Instructions were given to prevent infection. A work order was filed to repair the oven.

4:57 p.m. An officer on patrol observed graffiti on an overhead door and on brick on the west side of John W. Heisman Field House. A work order was filed for clean-up.

Monday, Feb. 14

12:48 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who collapsed at the Philips Gym Carr Pool. The student complained of pain in the back of his head but had not sustained an injury. The student was transported by ambulance to Mercy Allen Hospital.

3:35 p.m. Officers were requested to assist an ill Rec Center member who passed out in the weight room. The individual was transported by ambulance to Mercy Allen Hospital.
