Thursday, Nov. 5

1:35 a.m. Officers responded to an activated roof alarm at Mudd library, where they found the main stairwell door ajar and the roof hatch open. No one was observed in the area. The officers secured the roof hatch and stairwell door.

12:51 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Tank Hall. Steam from a shower had activated the alarm. The detector was checked, and the alarm was reset.

1:17 p.m. Facilities staff said a boom on their vehicle struck the overhead door of a storage room, causing damage. There were no injuries, and the vehicle did not appear to be damaged.

Friday, Nov. 6

12:42 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with an injured faculty member. A wall panel fell at Stevenson Dining Hall, striking the individual in the head. An ambulance transported the individual to Mercy Allen Hospital.

Saturday, Nov. 7

12:39 a.m. Officers responded to a noise complaint at an unauthorized party at a Village Housing unit on North Professor Street. The party ended and attendees left the area.

2:12 a.m. An officer on a routine building check of Kahn Hall observed several ceiling tiles and debris lying in the middle of the hallway just inside the main entrance. An emergency exit sign was also found pulled from the ceiling, dangling with the metal frame still attached. The facilities manager on call was notified.

7:58 a.m. Custodial staff reported vandalism in the men’s restroom in the basement of Wilder Hall. The door hinges to a bathroom stall were bent, and a toilet was loosened from its base, causing it to leak. A work order was filed.

12:00 p.m. Officers responded to a request for assistance from a student who injured their elbow while playing club soccer. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

Sunday, Nov. 8

3:26 a.m. Officers were requested to assist with an intoxicated student at an off-campus residence. An ambulance transported the student to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

7:05 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a water flow alarm at Williams Field House. They checked the area, but no cause for the alarm could be found. A work order was filed to document the malfunction, and the alarm was reset.

Monday, Nov. 9

12:10 p.m. Officers were requested to recover contraband at the Mudd library circulation desk. A satchel containing rolling papers, a pipe and two baggies containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana was turned into the desk. The contraband was picked up by members of the Oberlin Police Department.

11:35 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Union Street Housing Complex. Smoke from cooking had activated the alarm. The area was cleared of smoke, and the alarm reset.

5:17 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who fainted in the hallway of Kahn Hall. Officers spoke with the student, who said they were okay and declined medical treatment. The student was transported to Kosher-Halal Coop at the student’s request.
