Thursday, April 4 4:03 p.m. A student reported the theft of approximately $120 from her wallet while she was working at the Dascomb Hall kitchen. The wallet was in a backpack that she placed in the hallway while working. All other items in the backpack and wallet were intact. Friday, April 5 4:30 p.m. An officer conducting a fire drill in Asia House was given a wallet found on the lawn between Carnegie Building and Stevenson Hall. After confiscating a fake ID, the wallet was returned to the owner. 7:27 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle, which was secured to the bike rack on the west side of Stevenson Hall before break. Friday, March 29 7:52 a.m. A member of the custodial staff reported a suspicious individual looking into vehicles in the Conservatory parking lot. The individual was described as being a 40- to 45-year-old male with blondish hair and beard, wearing a short black leather jacket. Officers checked the Conservatory and surrounding area, but the individual could not be located. 8:25 a.m. An officer on patrol observed non-offensive graffiti in yellow soluble marker on an electrical vault on the west side of Talcott Hall. Thursday, Feb. 28 8:55 a.m. A member of the custodial staff reported finding a coffee lid with a substance consistent with marijuana on the fire alarm unit on the second floor hallway of Dascomb Hall. An officer responded and the item was turned over to the Oberlin Police Department. 8:47 p.m. A resident of Talcott Hall reported an odor of natural gas in the kitchen area. Thursday, Feb. 21 12:09 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Harkness House. Upon arrival, officers found that the first floor room was filled with smoke from incense being burned in a cup. The cup was taken outside and extinguished. Incense, candles and an ashtray with ashes were confiscated. A note was left in the student’s room regarding the recovered backpack, and it was returned at 4:50 a.m. 7:03 a.m. Officers were requested to assist with a student who passed out at Philips Gym. By the time officers arrived, the student was conscious and alert. The alarm was reset, and a work order was filed to check the alarm. Saturday, Feb. 2 10:39 p.m. Officers responded to a report of vandalism in the first-floor lobby of Firelands Apartments.
