Thursday, Feb. 7 2:15 a.m. An officer securing Mudd Library was given an unattended backpack that belonged to a student. A note was left in the student’s room regarding the recovered backpack, and it was returned at 4:50 a.m. 7:03 a.m. Officers were requested to assist with a student who passed out at Philips Gym. By the time officers arrived, the student was conscious and alert. Friday, Feb. 1 5:45 a.m. Security officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Service Building. The area was checked, but no fire was found. The alarm was reset, and a work order was filed to check the alarm. Saturday, Feb. 2 10:39 p.m. Officers responded to a report of vandalism in the first-floor lobby of Firelands Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found overturned furniture and red paint that had been thrown across the tiled floor. While in the building, officers heard loud music coming out of a first-floor apartment. Thursday, Dec. 6 5:36 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith apartment. The cause of the alarm was smoke from cooking. The area was cleared of smoke, and the alarm was reset. 11:38 p.m. A student reported an odor of burned marijuana coming from a room on the first floor of Barrows Hall. Officers made contact with the occupant of the room and confiscated a jar containing a substance consistent with marijuana and three glass pipes. Wednesday, Sept. 12 10:19 p.m. At approximately 10:19 p.m., a student reported that an unknown subject entered his room in East Hall. He appeared to have been going room to room on the second floor, taking small electronic devices. After conversing with the male student, the suspect became confrontational and a scuffle ensued. The suspect dropped the stolen items and an unloaded BB gun before fleeing on foot. The suspect was described as a young white male, red hair, tan with freckles, spoke with a southern accent, wearing a yellow shirt, and carrying a black backpack. Thursday, Sept. 20 2:01 a.m. Officers responded to a noise complaint at a Goldsmith apartment. Occupants were advised to turn the music down and complied. 7:55 a.m. The owner of a recovered bookbag was notified to pick it up from the Security Office. Upon taking an inventory of the bag, the student found that drawing pens (valued at $50), a laptop charger and two prescriptions were missing. 9:38 a.m. Officers responded to a report of vandalism at a Village housing unit on Lorain Street.
