To The Editors:
If you cannot fathom reading another horrific revelation from the Epstein investigation, highlighting the bottomless abuse of girls and children; if you cannot comprehend yet another constitutionally protected right being yanked away from women; if you cannot stand the thought of one more woman being blamed for her own sexual assault; you are not alone. Women make up 51 percent of the U.S. population. We traditionally take on the majority of family obligations, even while making up 47 percent of the U.S. workforce, and we are consistently leading efforts to better our communities on top of our other responsibilities. And yet, we consistently have to fight to obtain and keep basic rights and respect.
If you are ready to stand up for the rights of women, to demand justice for victims of sexual assault, and to take action against the systems that protect abusers and terrorize women, join us Sunday, March 8, in downtown Sandusky on International Women’s Day. We will meet at noon at Schade-Mylander Plaza for a rally featuring stories of brave, resilient women and how they have stood up to protect themselves, their loved ones, their communities, and their fellow women. After the rally, we will march up Columbus Ave. to demonstrate on the lawn of the Erie County Courthouse. We all know brave women — show up Sunday in solidarity with them.
