Thursday Oct. 15, 2020 9:50 p.m. A student reported the theft of their bicycle from the west side of Barrows Hall. The bicycle is blue, black, silver, and white in color, with the words “Aspect” and “Scott” on it. The bicycle was not locked at the time of theft. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 7:52 p.m. A student requested assistance from a Campus Safety officer, as they were injured after falling off a skateboard. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 7:58 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith apartment. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 2:10 p.m. A student reported the theft of their bicycle from the bike rack outside of East Hall around Sept. 11. The bicycle is a pink Mongoose with 30” mountain bike tires, a black bike seat with white and purple lining, and a broken right handlebar. The bicycle was not registered with the College and was not locked at the time of theft. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 4:02 a.m. A Campus Safety officer on a routine patrol observed a fort-like structure built around the fire escape at Johnson House on the west side of the building. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 6:47 p.m. Campus Safety officers responded to the report of a suspicious person without a mask riding a bicycle in Wilder Bowl. Officers made contact with the individual, identified them, and advised them of Oberlin College’s closed campus policy. The individual left the area. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020  11:00 p.m. Oberlin Fire Department members reported they were at Johnson House with an injured student who had called for assistance. A Campus Safety officer responded and requested an ambulance. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 1:29 p.m. Staff reported a bagged smoke detector in the basement of a Village House on West Lorain Street. It was determined that contractors had bagged the detector when they were working in the house. The bag was removed, and the detector checked out okay. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 2:43 a.m. Campus Safety officers were requested to assist with an ill student on the first floor of Dascomb Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.   8:40 a.m. Officers received reports of multiple power outages and alarms on campus. The Oberlin Police Department was contacted. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 11:35 a.m. Campus Safety Officers responded to an alarm sounding at a Village Housing Unit on East Lorain Street. An electrician responded to replace the smoke detector, and there were no further problems. Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 12:51 a.m.  A resident of Langston Hall reported hitting their head on a dresser. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020 6:44 p.m. Campus Safety responded to a report of a large tree branch that fell on several vehicles on the Keep Cottage driveway. Owners were contacted and the Grounds Department responded for clean-up. There were no injuries. 11:54 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm in Langston Hall. The cause was determined to be a malfunctioning detector in the bathroom. The detector was replaced and the alarm reset. Thursday, March 5, 2020 12:49 a.m. Campus Safety officers and the Oberlin Police Department responded to a call for assistance at Barrows Hall. Upon arrival, officers located a student ill from alcohol consumption. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. 9:28 a.m. Allen Memorial Art Museum security staff reported a semi-truck stuck in the mud on Willard Court across from the dock drive. A tow truck was called for removal of the semi. Facilities staff were notified. 4:30 p.m. A student reported the possible theft of their coat and wallet from the ’Sco. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. 3:32 p.m. A student reported the theft of prescription medication from their backpack while at the Mary Church Terrell Main Library. The student was transported to the Oberlin Police Department to file a report. 8:44 p.m. An officer on patrol of the Conservatory observed several non-College juveniles in the breezeway between Kohl Building and Kulas Atrium. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 7:25 p.m. Campus Safety officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Asia House. Smoke from burnt cheese had activated the alarm. The area was cleared, and the alarm was reset. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 7:02 a.m. A Campus Dining supervisor reported damage to the refrigerator in the McGregor Skybar. It is unknown whether anything was taken. The incident is under investigation. 11:19 a.m. An officer, while taking a report at South Hall, observed graffiti written in blue marker on the walls of the elevator. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 1:15 p.m. A student reported the theft of several items from their jacket pocket while at The ’Sco on Feb. 12. The jacket was left on a bench inside The ’Sco. Lost items included miscellaneous keys and wireless headphones. 10:04 p.m. A student reported that the stove in the co-op kitchen at Keep Cottage was expelling gas due to the pilot lights being off. A maintenance technician and the Oberlin Fire Department responded. Temporary repairs were made and plumbers responded the next morning. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 12:38 p.m. Campus Safety officers responded to a report of someone smoking marijuana on the second floor of Langston Hall. Officers made contact with the occupant, who denied smoking marijuana in the room. In plain view, officers observed a glass pipe with marijuana residue, an ashtray with marijuana stems and residue, a glass tube grinder with marijuana residue, and a bag of tobacco. Items were confiscated and turned over to the Oberlin Police Department for disposal.
