Thursday, March 7, 2019 12:09 a.m. Campus Safety officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Barrows Hall. Officers noted an odor of burnt marijuana and a slight haze near a room on the third floor. The alarm was reset. 11:22 a.m. A student reported their bicycle was stolen from the Woodland Street parking lot. The bicycle was locked to a pole at the time of the theft. 1:15 p.m. Custodial staff reported several instances of vandalism on the second and third floors of South Hall. Exit signs were damaged, kitchen countertops had been carved with sharp objects, and various areas were graffitied. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 8:52 p.m. A student reported that items were missing from their unlocked room on the second floor of South Hall. A jewelry box, two candles, and a ring holder had been taken. 10:14 p.m. Campus Safety officers were requested to assist an ill student in Kahn Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. Friday, March 1, 2019 2:41 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student stuck in an elevator at Firelands Apartments. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 4:11 a.m. Campus Safety officers were requested to assist an ill student in East Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. 11:26 a.m. A student reported that their backpack was lost or stolen, possibly from the patio of the Kohl Building. The backpack contained a MacBook laptop, blue Beats headphones, a manuscript, and a blue accordion folder. 4:00 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with a Life Safety inspection on the third floor of Talcott Hall. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 8:51 p.m. Campus Safety officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Village Housing Unit. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. The area was cleared and the alarm was reset. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 7:43 p.m. Officers were requested to assist an ill student in East Hall. The student advised officers that they were feeling better and declined transport to the hospital. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 8:40 a.m. Campus Safety officers received a report that a staff member was stuck in an elevator at Wilder Hall. When officers arrived, the individual had escaped the elevator. The elevator was put temporarily out of service and an electrician was called. 6:04 p.m. Officers were requested to help remove an unwelcome, non-Oberlin College individual from a dance class at Hales Gymnasium. The individual was located and left the area without incident. An electrician reset alarm and replaced the battery 3:50 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a person stuck in an elevator in Peters Hall. Members of the Oberlin Fire Department and an electrician also responded. The student was advised to call Campus Safety immediately if the incident occurred again.
