Thursday, Oct. 30 12:50 p.m. A student reported the theft of a bookbag from Dascomb Hall. The bookbag is red and blue and contained a silver MacBook Air valued at $850, a small Canon camera, an iPhone charger, Apple ear buds, a book and folders. Friday, Oct. 31 3:06 p.m. Officers responded to an odor consistent with burnt marijuana on the first floor of East Hall. The occupant of the room admitted to smoking marijuana, and the officers reminded the student of College policy on smoking. Friday, Oct. 24 8:45 a.m. Contractors reported damage, random words and pictures carved into freshly poured concrete on the south end of Zechiel House. 1:30 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the first floor of Hales Gymasium. A painting contractor sanding walls activated the alarm. Thursday, Oct. 2 3:07 p.m. An officer on patrol near Harkness bowl reported witnessing a Grounds employee strike a light pole and knock it over. There were no injuries, and an electrician responded to cap the wires. 9:24 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with a Life Safety inspection in a room on the third floor of Talcott Hall. A glass pipe containing a substance consistent with marijuana and a grinder containing the same substance were both found in plain view. The student was coherent, answered the officer’s questions and was escorted to their room. Friday, Sept. 19 7:40 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex. Thursday, Sept. 11 6:48 a.m. An officer responded to a report of vandalism at the northeast side of Wilder Hall. The temporary wooden railing at the northeast entrance was broken off of the newly poured concrete. Various beer cans and debris were also scattered in the area. Thursday, April 24 10:15 a.m. Dascomb Hall staff members reported a suspicious person sleeping in the lounge on the second floor of the dorm. The individual had a green sleeping bag and black backpack. Officers responded and checked Dascomb Hall and Wilder Bowl, but the individual was not located. 11:30 a.m. Grounds staff members reported additional vandalism to the outside chairs on the north side of Dascomb Hall. A work order was filed for removal. 11:18 a.m. Officers responded to assist with an ill student at Fairchild House. The bicycle is a black eight-speed Schwinn Searcher with a blue bottle holder and lights on the handle and seat. 2:47 p.m. A student reported the theft of her wallet and ID from her purse while in the Allen Art Building. Friday, March 28 6:12 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to an activated carbon monoxide detector in a Woodland Street Village housing unit. No gas was detected within the home by the OFD. The battery was replaced and the detector stopped beeping.   Saturday, March 29 10:44 p.m. A resident of East Hall reported an individual urinating on a room door in the first floor of East Hall.
