Thursday, Sept. 12 9:26 a.m. Officers reported an incident of vandalism at Fred Shults Field. A six-by-four foot piece of sod was pulled up on the northeast corner. Several empty beer cans were also found. 4:28 p.m. An officer reported that the south window of the football field press box had been broken into. A maintenance person cleaned up and made repairs. Thursday, Sept. 5  1:30 a.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who was ill from alcohol consumption in Noah Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. 11:03 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a student who had fallen off his bicycle on the west side of Fairchild House. Thursday, May 2  7:27 p.m. A student requested assistance in lighting the pilot light on the stove in the Harkness House kitchen. A member of the Facilities Operation staff responded and reported that there had been a small fire that caused no damage and did not cause the alarm to sound. The alarm company was contacted and repaired the alarm. 8:58 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a visitor who was ill just outside of the Goldsmith apartments. Friday, April 26  10:52 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the men’s restroom at Hales Gym. The man, who was not a student, said he was waiting for an appointment at the clinic and stopped at the gym.  12:45 p.m. A student reported the theft of her unlocked bicycle from the bike rack on the east side of Baldwin Cottage. The bicycle is a red, 15-speed Mongoose.  Saturday, April 27  2:22 a.m. An officer on patrol observed damage to the fence on the north side of the Kettering parking lot. Thursday, April 18 8:00 a.m. An officer on routine patrol observed non-offensive graffiti in blue spray paint on the sidewalk between Burton Hall and East Hall. A work order was filed for its removal. 9:24 a.m. An officer transported two runners who had become extremely tired back onto campus from the Oberlin-Elyria Road area. 1:30 p.m. A student reported the theft of her light blue Raleigh bicycle from inside the Harkness foyer.  It is valued at approximately $150 and registered with the City of Oberlin. 3:47 p.m. A student employee at the Dascomb Hall kitchen reported the theft of $80 from her backpack, which had been placed in the kitchen hallway. Thursday, April 11  7:50 a.m. A staff member reported being verbally harassed as she crossed Woodland Street by an individual driving a tan SUV. 9:20 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student whose arm got stuck in a window in Langston Hall. A maintenance technician responded and loosened the window brackets so the student was able to remove her arm. She declined medical attention. Thursday, April 4 4:03 p.m. A student reported the theft of approximately $120 from her wallet while she was working at the Dascomb Hall kitchen. The wallet was in a backpack that she placed in the hallway while working. All other items in the backpack and wallet were intact. Friday, April 5 4:30 p.m. An officer conducting a fire drill in Asia House was given a wallet found on the lawn between Carnegie Building and Stevenson Hall. Friday, March 29 7:52 a.m. A member of the custodial staff reported a suspicious individual looking into vehicles in the Conservatory parking lot. The individual was described as being a 40- to 45-year-old male with blondish hair and beard, wearing a short black leather jacket. Thursday, Feb. 28 8:55 a.m. A member of the custodial staff reported finding a coffee lid with a substance consistent with marijuana on the fire alarm unit on the second floor hallway of Dascomb Hall. An officer responded and the item was turned over to the Oberlin Police Department. 8:47 p.m. A resident of Talcott Hall reported an odor of natural gas in the kitchen area. Thursday, Feb. 21 12:09 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Harkness House. Upon arrival, officers found that the first floor room was filled with smoke from incense being burned in a cup. The cup was taken outside and extinguished. Incense, candles and an ashtray with ashes were confiscated.
