Thursday, Nov. 7   5:22 p.m. Staff members reported the strong odor consistent with marijuana on the fifth floor of Firelands Apartments. Officers responded and the occupant denied smoking anything; they stated that the smell could be coming from burning incense. The student was advised of college policy on burning and smoking in the dorms.   5:36 p.m. Staff members reported the smell of smoke coming from a room on the second floor of Dascomb Hall. Thursday, Oct. 31 9:48 a.m. A resident of Langston Hall reported that the residue caused by spray painting in her room had activated the smoke detector. Officers responded and an electrician was requested to replace the detector head. The student was advised against spray painting in the room. 3:14 p.m. Staff members conducting Life Safety inspections reported a room in Saunders House with a bagged smoke detector. Thursday, Oct. 24 5:49 p.m. A student reported the theft of his locked bicycle from the concourse area at the football stadium; the bicycle is a one-speed, black and orange Schwinn. Friday, Oct. 25 8:41 a.m. A custodial staff member reported a full-size couch missing from the first-floor lounge in Barrows Hall. The couch is patterned with blocks of blue, rust and brown and has three cushions. Wednesday, Oct. 2  2:19 a.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who injured her leg while walking near the King Building. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.  12:08 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the northeast side of the Science Center. The bicycle is a women’s 26” Trek with yellow tape on the handlebars and an approximate value of $500. The bicycle was locked to itself at the time of the theft.  9:40 p.m. Staff members conducting Life Safety inspections located a glass bong with an odor of burnt marijuana in plain view in a room on the second floor of Talcott Hall. Thursday, Sept. 26 2:43 p.m. Safety and Security officers and EMTs assisted a student at the Conservatory. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment of abdominal pain. Friday, Sept. 27 6:53 p.m. Officers responded to an alarm on the third floor of Langston Hall. Upon locating the room with the activated detector, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected throughout the room.    Thursday, Sept. 19  2:27 p.m. Staff at Philips gym reported a missing folding chair from an office on the first floor. It is a black padded chair reportedly valued at $125 with red and yellow lettering on the seat and back. 5 p.m. A Firelands Apartments resident reported an odor of natural gas on the first floor. Officers, members the Oberlin Fire Department, an HVAC technician and members from Columbia Gas responded. The possible source of the smell was a burner control knob partially open on a two-burner stove. Thursday, May 2  7:27 p.m. A student requested assistance in lighting the pilot light on the stove in the Harkness House kitchen. A member of the Facilities Operation staff responded and reported that there had been a small fire that caused no damage and did not cause the alarm to sound. The alarm company was contacted and repaired the alarm. 8:58 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a visitor who was ill just outside of the Goldsmith apartments. Friday, April 26  10:52 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the men’s restroom at Hales Gym. The man, who was not a student, said he was waiting for an appointment at the clinic and stopped at the gym.  12:45 p.m. A student reported the theft of her unlocked bicycle from the bike rack on the east side of Baldwin Cottage. Thursday, April 18 8:00 a.m. An officer on routine patrol observed non-offensive graffiti in blue spray paint on the sidewalk between Burton Hall and East Hall. Thursday, April 11  7:50 a.m. A staff member reported being verbally harassed as she crossed Woodland Street by an individual driving a tan SUV. 9:20 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student whose arm got stuck in a window in Langston Hall. A maintenance technician responded and loosened the window brackets so the student was able to remove her arm. She declined medical attention.
