What inspired your team name? Alen Cisija: It was inspired by a Spanish band name for absolutely no reason. Nobody knows the actual team name, though. We're usually known as The Oberlin Miami Heat. What's your favorite thing about basketball? Gien-Anson Chiu: The camaraderie between teammates. Most of the people I played with growing up in the Philippines are still close friends, and we still have fun whenever we get together. Did you play any other sports growing up? When did you start playing lacrosse? M: Fourth grade. Did you play other sports growing up? M: We played football, ice hockey, roller hockey, soccer and baseball. D: We were miserable at baseball. They put us in the outfield, where they put all the bad players. M: It was boring because no one ever hit balls out there. D: But we got lots of free ice cream out of it. Do you work well together on the lacrosse field? M: Yes. We know how to work together, and I know how he plays. We understand each other’s flaws and strengths. D: On the field, during games, we work well together. M: I play defender and he plays long stick middie. D: He makes lots of assists to me. We work well together becau...

What is your favorite aspect of tennis? The competition. You play one opponent, two if it's doubles, and you have to try to figure out how to defeat them. It’s a mental process. Plus, I like running all over the court. When did you start playing tennis? When I was 8. Singles or doubles? I like doubles more, but I’m better at singles. My mentality is the same as singles even when I’m playing doubles. What’s it like playing an individual sport on a team? I just try my best to win my portion of the match to help the team. I cheer on my teammates so they’ll win and we win overall. It’s a good concept, to play individually for a team. It’s fun to watch the team grow and develop throughou...

I think I've just been lucky to have the opportunity to play all four years with good people around me. If you're having fun, you're successful. How long have you been playing baseball? I've been playing since I can remember just with my brother and friends, but I didn't start playing organized baseball until a little later. Did you play any other sports in high school? I played football for a year and basketball for two, but I never liked practicing for those sports, so I stuck with baseball. What other schools recruited you out of high school? Only smaller schools recruited ...
