Expectations were high for the men’s and women’s cross-country teams as they traveled to Gambier, Ohio, this past weekend to compete in the North Coast Athletic Confer­ence Championships. With senior standout Geno Arthur and the Yeomen hoping to claim their first NCAC Championship and the Ye­owomen looking to win their seventh consecutive championship, both teams were prepared for the tough conference competition. Arthur would ultimately be Ober­lin’s lone champion, outlasting 2014 champion Logan Steiner of Allegheny College to win the individual men’s championship. Senior standout Geno Arthur runs ahead of the pack at the Inter-Regional Rumble. A 2014 NCAA All-American, Arthur is unbeaten in 2015 and most recently completed the Inter-Regional Rumble in a course record time of 24:04.0, defeating the field of 281 Division-III competitors and outlasting North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Logan Steiner. The College’s cross country teams traveled to Gambier, Ohio, for the North Coast Athletic Conference Pre­view cross country meet last week­end. Both teams showed impressive performances on the course that will host the 2015 NCAC Cross Country Championships. The Yeowomen placed second be­hind the University of Mount Union, racking up 51 points overall to UMU’s 61. This commanding performance was lead by senior Sarel Loewus, who dominated the five-kilometer course with a time of 18 minutes and 58 sec­onds. The women’s cross country team, accompanied by Yeomen Geno Arthur and Josh Urso, both juniors, concluded its historic season at the 2014 NCAA Championship on Saturday, Nov. 22, placing seventh in the nation. Seniors Emma Lehmann and Kyle Neal were trailblazers in the women’s race, finishing in times of 21 minutes, 55.9 seconds and 22:7.8 to take ninth and 14th places respectively. The men’s and women’s cross country teams had an impressive showing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet this past Saturday. The Yeowomen finished second overall, automatically qualifying them for the NCAA national meet. Sophomores Geno Arthur and Joshua Urso ran well and earned individual bids to the national meet. Juniors Emma Lehmann and Kyle Neal, who have both had consistently successful seasons, led their teammates in the women’s 6k. The cross country teams had an extremely successful weekend at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.  Competing among over 50 teams, the men’s and women’s cross country teams earned their titles as the number one and number two teams in the state, respectively. Senior captain Molly Martorella and sophomore Geno Arthur earned accolades for their first places finishes in the women’s varsity 6k and men’s varsity 8k races.
