Cleveland Botches Potential Rebuild

The 2018 NFL Draft was critical for the Cleveland Browns after a season in which they didn’t win a single game, compiling a record of 0–16. There has only been one other team in National Football League history that has gone winless: the 2008 Detroit Lions. The Browns, whose performance has been notoriously bad over the past couple decades, need to make significant changes if they want to overcome their current laughing-stock standing as a laughingstock in the league. The Cleveland Browns kicked off the NFL season in typical, expansion-era Cleveland style. The once-storied franchise disappointed its fans yet again when its defense cracked in the fourth quarter, allowing the Miami Dolphins to score 10 unanswered points and widen their lead to 23–10. The defeat marked the ninth consecutive season-opening loss for the Browns. In seasons of the past, these first-game losses have been indicative of the quality of play that was to come in the games that followed, but that may change this year.
