Player of the Week: Lucas Poggiali

Senior quarterback Lucas Poggiali scans the field to connect with one of his teammates. In Oberlin’s homecoming game against Allegheny College, Poggiali personally shattered a school record and helped the Yeomen offense break another one of their own. Poggiali broke the Yeomen record for yards thrown with 506 yards, a title previously held by Josh Mandel, OC ’13, with 454 yards. In doing so, he also became the first player in Yeomen history to pass the 500-yard benchmark. As a team, the...

The Yeomen ended their campaign against Ohio Wesleyan University in a fury last Saturday, as senior quarterback Lucas Poggiali capped off the late game surge with a sly diagonal slip to first-year wide receiver Robby Reinheimer in the final 10 seconds of the game. But for all their final efforts and the Yeomen offense’s best performance of the season, the Yeomen still fell to their opponents 55–42. The Yeomen started the game meekly, granting the Battling Bishops complete control of their home field and surrendering 27 points in the first quarter. OWU running back Jesse Beachy rushed for a 40-yard touchdown on the Battling Bishop’s first drive of the game, followed by a pair of 37-yard touchdown passes from...

Thundering cheers erupted from the home stands, drowning out the referee’s final whistle during Oberlin’s 28–24 triumph over Kenyon College Saturday night. In defeating the Lords, the Yeomen didn’t just secure their first win of the season — they made history. The match marked the first time the football program recorded a victory on the new Dick Bailey Field, completed only last year as part of the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex. Backed by the efforts of senior running...

Football Looks to Break Out in Upcoming Season

September 4, 2015

Coming off of a 2014 season marred by injuries and inconsistency, Oberlin football’s 2015 team has nothing but confidence heading into their contest with The College at Brockport. This is due in part to several coaching staff changes headed by second-year Head Coach Jay Anderson. Chief among these changes is the addition of former Baldwin Wallace University Offensive Coordinator Keith Grabowski, who will take the same role with the Yeomen in addition to coaching the offensive line. In...
