Fighting Scots Outlast Yeowomen

After a hot start to the 2015- 2016 season, the women’s bas­ketball team lost its third straight game on Wednesday night, falling to the College of Wooster Fight­ing Scots 52–50 at Philips gym. Oberlin Unable to Make a Splash in Home Meet

The swimming and diving teams were defeated by The College of Wooster Saturday in their first home dual-meet of the season. The Yeowomen saw early success at the home opener, with the team of seniors Lauren Wong and Deirdre Haren and juniors Maddie Prang­ley and Nora Cooper defeating the Fighting Scots in the 200-yard med­ley relay with a time of 1 minute, 55.31 seconds. Fighting Scots Seal Yeowomen’s 2–0 Defeat at Wooster

The Oberlin women’s soccer team traveled to Wooster, Ohio, in the wind and rain last Satur­day night to face The College of Wooster but failed to find the back of its opponent’s net, losing to the tune of 2–0. This moves the Yeowomen to 5–4–1 for the sea­son and 0–2 in league play. The Yeowomen held the Fight­ing Scots scoreless for most of the first half, but eventually yielded with two seconds left to Wooster’s junior midfielder Liz Kantra, who capitalized on a powerful cross into the box and shot one past Oberlin first-year keeper Jordyn Morris. Wooster scored again in the 68th minute off of another well-placed service, but this time it was junior forward Kennedy Payne on the receiving end....

Junior Abraham Davis readies to return a volley at Oberlin’s invitational event this past weekend. Davis was 3–0 in singles play at the event and would finish with an overall record of 5–1. The Yeomen travel to St. Louis this weekend for the ITA Central Region Championships.

The Yeomen started their season with a competitive performance at their own invitational event this past weekend. The swimming and diving team opened its North Coast Athletic Conference play against the College of Wooster Fighting Scots on Saturday, Nov. 1 with tough losses on both the men’s and women’s sides, falling 166–93 and 153–135 respectively. The dual losses move the team to a 1–1 overall record. Preceding Saturday’s contest against the Fighting Scots, the Yeomen and Yeowomen took on the Hiram College Terriers at home on Friday night.
