Jacques Rutzky is the Buddhist Affiliate to the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life at Oberlin or ORSL. A student of Thai Meditation Master V.R. Dhiravamsa, he leads multiple Vipassana meditation groups on campus every weekend, including an intensive Winter Term retreat in January. Rutzky worked in California for twenty-five years as a psychotherapist for adults suffering from childhood trauma. The College held a vigil at Wilder Hall Tuesday after more than 500 were injured and 58 killed at a concert in Las Vegas Monday. 58 bricks were placed to honor the victims who lost their lives. Fairchild Chapel to Become Multifaith Prayer Space

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life at Oberlin has been working since the fall of 2015 to recreate Fairchild Chapel as a multifaith prayer space for Oberlin’s campus. College senior Rand Zalzala, the student coordinator for this project, said that the ORSL’s current focus is to make the space as available and welcoming as possible to members of any and all religious affiliations.
