County Vocational School to Offer Career Camp
Lorain County JVS will offer a free career exploration camp called ExCEL this summer for rising ninth and tenth graders. ExCEL will run from June 14–16. Participants will take part in skill classes and will be able to gain hands-on experience in a variety of career fields every day. Free lunch and transportation will also be provided.
Ramos to Travel to Puerto Rican Conference
State Representative Dan Ramos travelled to New York City last weekend to attend a national conference of elected officials of Puerto Rican descent. The National Conference for Puerto Rican Elected Officials was started in part to respond to the economic crisis in Puerto Rico and its effect on mainland communities. The conference also addressed the importance of ensuring Puerto Rican voters access to timely voter registration opportunities.
Symposia Attractions of the Weekend
Both the seventh annual Senior Symposium and the second event in the ‘How Complexity Science is Changing Our Understanding of the World’ symposia series are taking place this weekend. The Senior Symposium consists of over 50 senior and fifth-year students who will sit on a total of 17 panels to present honors work, capstone projects or research. ‘How Complexity Science is Changing Our Understanding of the World’ will feature international experts addressing the complexities of the natural and social sciences in everyday life and is funded by a grant from the Oppenheim family.
