Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020
12:53 p.m. A student reported a middle-aged individual riding a bicycle in the North quad area asking for money. Campus Safety officers responded and checked the area, but the individual could not be located.
2:10 p.m. Allen Memorial Art Museum security staff responded to a report of a MAPP gas cylinder in the Museum workshop area making an unusual hissing sound. The Oberlin Fire Department reported to the Museum, where they found that the cylinder was leaking before disposing of it.
6:45 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith apartment caused by smoke from cooking. The area was cleared of smoke, and the alarm was reset with no further problems.
Friday, Nov. 6, 2020
2:13 p.m. A resident of Firelands reported that an unknown person attempted to key into their room. Officers responded and learned that it was a member of custodial staff who was trying to clean the room, believing it was empty.
3:34 p.m. Faculty reported vandalism committed to photographs posted on a project board at the Science Center. No other damage was located. Officers are going to conduct extra walkthroughs of the building.
5:49 p.m. A staff member reported falling down the concrete steps at Hales Gymnasium, injuring themselves. Officers responded and transported the individual to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
6:48 p.m. A student reported that they tripped in a hole in the grass and fell while walking on the south side of Keep Cottage. They reported that they were not injured, but they requested the hole be repaired. An officer responded, placed a wooden panel over the hole, and filed a work order.
Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020
11:58 a.m. An officer responded to a report of water on the floor in Dascomb Hall’s first floor laundry room. The washing machine was tied into the slop sink which was not draining properly, causing water to overflow. The manager on call was contacted for repair and water clean up.
Monday, Nov. 9, 2020
7:47 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm at the Professional Services Building. Cleaning staff had accidentally hit a pull station, activating the alarm. The alarm was reset with no further problems.
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020
4:38 p.m. Staff reported offensive graffiti on the sidewalk at Wilder Hall. A maintenance technician responded and removed the graffiti.
