Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 5:46 p.m. A student reported that they were approached and punched by an unknown man while walking through Tappan Square at approximately 1:30 a.m. The man then ran in an unknown direction. The incident is under investigation. 6:00 p.m. While patrolling the Adam Joseph Lewis Center, a Safety and Security officer found an expended fire extinguisher near an electrical transformer. The extinguisher was taken to the Safety and Security Office. 8:18 p.m. A student reported the loss or possible theft of their laptop computer from the Rathskellar. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 4:33 a.m. Safety and Security Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Lord-Saunders House. A malfunctioning detector caused the alarm, which was repaired and reset. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 2:27 p.m. A resident reported an individual building on fire in the Arboretum, west of the amphitheater. Officers responded and located a small fire, which was extinguished. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 12:30 p.m. Safety and Security Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith Village Housing Unit. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm, which was reset. 1:50 p.m. A resident of South Hall reported water seeping into their room from the bathroom next door. An emergency work order was filed. Thursday, Sept. 15 8:43 a.m. Safety and Security officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the basement of Johnson House caused by water dripping onto the detector. Electricians responded for repair. 1:06 p.m. A Safety and Security officer assisted an injured student on the east side of Bibbins Hall who fell backward over their bicycle and caught their ankle in the chain, creating a deep laceration. Thursday, Feb. 4 1:24 a.m. Officers were requested to assist an ill student on the third floor of Langston Hall. An ambulance was requested, and the student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment. Friday, Feb. 5 7:49 a.m. Staff reported graffiti in the Rice/King Building elevator. A “Priority One” mailing label with writing on it was stuck to the ceiling of the elevator. Friday, Dec. 4 6:19 a.m. Safety and Security officers responded to a report of vandalism in the restroom on the third floor of Wilder Hall. Nail polish was thrown on several walls and doors and graffiti was written on the walls. Thursday, April 30 6:41 a.m. A custodial staff member reported vandalism to the Langston Hall sign north of the dorm. At the time of the report, the sign had only one vertical post with the address. While investigating, officers found an unregistered bicycle in the dumpster behind Union Street apartments. A work order was filed for removal of the bicycle. 8:12 a.m. Members of the grounds staff reported a vehicle parked perpendicular in the Union Street parking lot.  9:53 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious middle-aged individual wearing a hospital gown and asking for money at the Bonner Center for Service and Learning. The individual was located and assisted by Oberlin Police. 11:42 p.m. A staff member reported several wine bottles left in the main space of Wilder Hall following a recital. Thursday, March 26 2:37 p.m. A staff member at Philips gym reported vandalism to a door in the northeast hall. The door had been separated and broken. 5:27 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the fourth floor of Mudd library. An activated duct smoke detector was determined to be the source of the alarm. Facilities were contacted and HVAC and electrician staff responded.  11:55 a.m. A staff member reported a minor accident involving a College car at the intersection of North Professor Street and Lorain Street. The car was stopped at the intersection when a second vehicle lost control on the icy road and bumped into the rear of the first car.
