Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021

2:30 p.m. A resident of a Village House on Elm Street reported a Dyson fan, a cordless vacuum, and a box of cleaning supplies missing. A work order was filed for a lock change.

4:49 p.m. A resident of a Goldsmith apartment reported that an unknown person had entered their room while they were away. Boxes were opened, but nothing appeared to be missing. A work order was filed for window screens to be reinstalled.

10:44 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a strong odor of marijuana on the first floor of South Hall.  Upon arrival, the officer detected a strong odor of air freshener. Residents of the room left the area prior to officers’ arrival.

Friday, Jan. 29, 2021

9:55 a.m. A resident of a West Lorain Street Village House reported an unknown person entered their locked room and stole a 43-inch television and black sound bar. The value of the missing items was estimated to be $365.

2:43 p.m. A resident of South Hall reported that, upon their return to their room, an unknown person had entered and left food that had molded. The resident disposed of the food and cleaned the area.

 4:28 p.m. A student reported their bicycle missing from the sun room of their North Professor Street Village House. The bicycle is a 10-speed with a teal color frame, lavender handlebars, and lime green rims. The bicycle was not registered, and its value is unknown.

9:41 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm at an Elm Street Village House. A resident suggested that using sprayed air freshener to eliminate a bad odor had accidentally activated the alarm. The system was reset.

Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021

11:17 p.m. A student requested assistance with an ill friend at Langston Hall. The student was transported by ambulance to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment and later released.

Monday, Feb. 1, 2021

12:45 p.m. Facilities staff reported suspicious activity at the Ash Dump. An officer noted a suspected improvised skateboard ramp and several out-of-place pallets. An Oberlin College ID was found in the area and turned in. 

8:32 p.m. Custodial staff located a green glass pipe in a drawer while cleaning a room on the third floor of Firelands. An officer took the pipe, which smelled of tobacco, and brought it to the Campus Safety office.
