3:58 p.m. A Campus Safety officer responded to a report of smoldering mulch at the Woodland Street entrance to the Science Center. The officer, along with a maintenance technician, poured buckets of water on the mulch. A work order was filed for the Grounds department to check the area.

Friday, June 18, 2021

9:06 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a water flow alarm at the Pottery Co-op. It was determined the loss of pressure was caused by contractors working on the piping system. The alarm was reset.

10:45 a.m. A construction manager reported a bag of illegal substances found near Finney Chapel. The bag contained a blue glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue, two herb grinders containing suspected marijuana, two parts of a vape pen used for smoking dry herb, six empty bags and jars with a fresh marijuana scent, two bags with suspected marijuana buds inside and one metal tin with suspected marijuana residue. All items were turned over to the Oberlin Police Department.

2:12 p.m. Campus experienced numerous power glitches. Facilities staff responded and learned that the problem was with a city substation and they were working on repairs.

6:57 p.m. Officers responded to the report of graffiti and vandalism on concrete behind the Conservatory. The graffiti was etched out, and a work order was filed.

12:28 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department members responded to a fire alarm at the Apollo Theatre. The cause of the alarm was found to be steam from a popcorn machine, which activated a heat detector. The alarm was reset.
