Thursday, April 19
1:15 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a light pole down in North Quad. A plastic dome was found broken and laying on the ground. The globe was taken to the Electric Shop and a work order was filed.
2:44 a.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who was not feeling well at Harkness Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
10:33 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Kade House. A blow dryer being used too close to the smoke detector activated the alarm. The detector was cleared and the alarm reset.
1 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Union Street apartment. It is unknown what activated the alarm. The system was reset with no further problems.
11:31 p.m. Residents of Barrows Hall reported three suspicious male individuals looking for a student in Barrows. The males could provide no identification when asked by residents. Officers responded and a search of the interior and exterior of the building was made but the males were not located.
Friday, April 20
12:03 a.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who was feeling ill and having difficulty breathing at Asia House. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for medical treatment.
12:40 a.m. Officers responded to a loud music complaint on the third floor of South Hall. Contact was made with occupants and the music was turned down. While there, officers observed a box of wine and a 30-pack of beer in plain view. The wine and beer were confiscated and disposed of.
7:15 a.m. An officer completing an exterior check of the Allen Memorial Art Museum observed splattered plaster on the ground and above the door of the sculpture studio. A work order was filed for clean up. Contact was made with the student responsible.
3:13 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student feeling faint at DeCafé. The student was advised to eat. After eating, she felt better and was assisted back to her room at Barrows Hall.
4:13 p.m. An officer on routine patrol in Wilder Bowl observed a student smoking marijuana from a pipe. The pipe, along with a marijuana cigarette, was confiscated and turned over to Oberlin Police.
Saturday, April 21
1:20 p.m. Staff at Philips Gym reported an altercation in the north hallway. Officers made contact with the parties involved. A father and son attending a table tennis tournament were having an argument. Everything was OK.
3:35 p.m. An officer on patrol located a damaged vending machine in the lobby of Barnard House. The front lid had been pushed in preventing product from being retrieved. The vending company was notified.
Sunday, April 22
3:18 a.m. Officers on patrol observed students draping toilet paper in trees in the North Quad area. When officers approached, the students fled. A work order was filed for clean up.
10:55 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Tank Hall, first floor. Smoke from cooking in a convection oven activated the alarm. Area was cleared and system reset. Co-op members were instructed to clean the interior of the oven before using it again.
7:52 p.m. Student reported she had observed a male subject, approximately 30 years of age, wearing a blue jacket with hood, break the lock off a bicycle and take it on the west side of the Conservatory. Officers responded and searched the area, but could not locate anyone fitting the description.
Monday, April 23
7:51 a.m. An officer on routine patrol observed non-offensive graffiti on the north entrance to Fairchild House. The graffiti appeared to be done in crayon. A work order was filed for removal.
5:17 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from a residence on West Lorain Street. The bicycle is a women’s 26-inch, dark green specialized with a Gatto Bike shop sticker on it. The bicycle is registered and was locked to itself at the time of theft.
Tuesday, April 24
9:05 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a gas odor in Philips Gym near the generator in the locker room area. A small leak in a valve was located on an unused dryer. The gas line was turned off to the dryer until parts could be replaced.
10:30 a.m. A resident of Village Housing on Elm Street reported the theft of a fire extinguisher from the residence sometime between April 21 and April 22. It is unknown who is responsible for the theft.
11:16 p.m. Student reported the theft of her backpack from the Arboretum while rehearsing a theater project. Backpack contained a blue sweat shirt, script folder, ID and key.
