Thursday, Oct. 25

4:23 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activated at Stevenson Hall. The cause of the alarm was dust created by contractors cleaning coils. The detector was cleaned and alarms were reset.

Friday, Oct. 26

10:08 a.m. A member of the grounds staff reported vandalism, including a broken railing, on the bandstand in Tappan Square.

5:28 p.m. An officer responded to a report at Kahn Hall where students had used a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire caused by a burner catching fire while they were cooking. A custodian was called to clean up and an electrician responded to check detectors.

Saturday, Oct. 27

11:41 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Goldsmith apartments. The cause of the alarm was smoke from cooking eggs. The apartment was cleared of smoke and the alarms were reset.

Sunday, Oct. 28

8:51 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Allencroft House. The cause of the alarm was steam from the room radiators. The area was cleared of steam and the alarm was reset.

Monday, Oct. 29

4:00 p.m. A student reported that his laptop was missing from his backpack. The laptop is silver in color with an 11” screen. It has a torn sticker on the bottom corner of the cover and is valued at approximately $500.

4:58 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a priority one fire alarm at the Lewis Center Annex. The cause of the alarm was water coming through the smoke detector head. An electrician replaced the detector and the alarm was reset.

5:42 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a tree falling on a vehicle in the Gray Gables lot. The vehicle was unoccupied. Members of the grounds staff responded to remove the tree and the owner was notified.

6:34 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the second floor of Allencroft House. The cause of the alarm was steam from a radiator. A maintenance technician responded and the alarm was reset.

11:13 p.m. Officers were requested to assist an intoxicated individual at a Village house on North Professor Street. An ambulance was called and the individual was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

Tuesday, Oct. 30

5:52 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the 4th floor of the Science Center. Water was leaking from the roof into the detector. A member of the Facilities Operations staff responded to repair it.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

3:30 p.m. A student reported the theft of his bicycle from the south entrance of Langston Hall. The bicycle is a 21-speed maroon Giant Cypress ST and is valued at approximately $750. The bicycle was locked at the time of theft.

3:30 p.m. A student reported the theft of his ID and headphones from an unlocked locker at Philips Gym.

8:20 p.m. A staff member reported an odor consistent with marijuana on the second floor of Dascomb Hall. Upon entering the room, a hookah was observed in plain view on the floor. The hookah was confiscated and turned over to the Oberlin Police Department. The occupants were advised of College policies.

9:45 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with an ill student at King Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

11:22 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at South Hall. A pull station on the third floor was found activated for no apparent reason. The alarm was reset.

11:55 p.m. Officers were requested to assist with an intoxicated student in the lounge of Langston Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
