Security Report: April 22 – April 26

Friday, April 22

12:39 p.m. Officers responded to a report of graffiti on a bench between the Kohl Building and Robertson Hall. The bench was vandalized with black marker. Facilities staff responded for cleanup.

7:02 p.m. A student reported the theft of a red hat, gray pea coat, 4G iPhone and white wallet from a bench in the men’s locker room at Philips Gym.

11:42 p.m. Officers responded to Barrows Hall upon receiving a report of an unauthorized party taking place on the first floor. Several cans of beer and one bottle of alcohol were confiscated and discarded.

Saturday, April 23

12:20 a.m. A student, ill from alcohol consumption, was transported by ambulance from Langston Hall to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

10:22 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Baldwin Cottage. The alarm, which was activated by heat from a blow dryer, was silenced and reset.

Sunday, April 24

2:02 a.m. A student, ill from alcohol consumption, was transported from Noah Hall to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.

8:46 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Keep Cottage. A check of the building was made with negative results. The alarm was reset with no further problems.

9:23 a.m. An officer on patrol observed gold spray-painted graffiti on the south wall of Kahn Hall. The graffiti was not offensive in nature. A work order was filed for removal.

9:30 p.m. A student reported the theft of her laptop from a lounge on the second floor of Kahn Hall. The laptop is a white MacBook with black and red earbud headphones attached, valued at approximately $1,000. A report was also filed with the Oberlin Police Department.

Monday, April 25

12:30 a.m. An officer located non-offensive graffiti spray-painted near the east doors of the Science Center. A work order was filed for cleanup.

4:47 p.m. A student reported the theft of her laptop from a table in the dining area of Harkness Hall on March 25. The laptop is a blue HP Deskjet in a black case, valued at approximately $800.

Tuesday, April 26

12:54 a.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Barrows Hall. Cooking popcorn activated the alarm. Windows were opened for ventilation. The alarm was silenced and reset.

8:25 a.m. An officer and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the sixth floor of Firelands. The alarm, which was activated by smoke from cooking, was silenced and reset.

3:40 p.m. A student reported a suspicious person in her practice room at the Conservatory going through her purse. When confronted, the unidentified male ran. Officers patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the male. None items in the purse were found missing.

3:54 p.m. An officer on patrol observed an ambulance near the old track in the the Athletics Field House parking lot. A non-college individual had fallen, injuring his left hand and arm. The individual was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
