MRC Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Ignacio G. Rivera, a queer Boricua performance artist, activist, filmmaker, lecturer and sex educator, is holding a workshop on desire and consent at the Third World House lounge on Monday at 7 p.m. The event is part of the Multicultural Resource Center’s 20th anniversary celebration event, which incorporates the long-running series “My Name Is My Own.” The series began in 2004 and has brought a wide variety of speakers to the College to provide institutional support to Oberlin communities of historically underrepresented students.
Bernie Sanders to Hold Rally at Cleveland State University
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will take his campaign to Cleveland State University for a rally on Monday at 7 p.m. Sanders and other local leaders plan to address major issues facing the United States at the free event. Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Wolstein Center.
Oberlin Receives Solid Waste Operator of the Year Award
The Solid Waste Association of North America’s Buckeye Chapter awarded the city of Oberlin’s Public Works Department the Solid Waste Operator of the Year Award. The Lorain County-based program provides services to more than 2,000 residents and over 80 commercial containers to customers. The city has earned a number of awards from organizations across the country for its commitment to sustainability and green energy.
