Thursday, April 11
7:50 a.m. A staff member reported being verbally harassed as she crossed Woodland Street by an individual driving a tan SUV.
9:20 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student whose arm got stuck in a window in Langston Hall. A maintenance technician responded and loosened the window brackets so the student was able to remove her arm. She declined medical attention.
Friday, April 12
12:23 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm near the elevator on the third floor of South Hall. Upon opening the elevator door, a slight haze and a strong odor consistent with burnt marijuana was detected. The area was vented and the alarm was reset.
11:43 p.m. Officers were requested to assist a student who had possibly broken his nose while dancing in the South Hall dance studio. The student had left for the emergency room by the time the officers arrived.
Saturday, April 13
1:14 a.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Barrows Hall. The cause of the alarm was smoke from burnt popcorn. The area was vented and the alarm was reset.
3:34 a.m. An officer on patrol observed a food service cart and pans lying on the ground north of Wilder Hall. The cart and pans were returned to DeCafé.
11:32 a.m. A student reported the theft of her unlocked bicycle from the north side of Keep Cottage. The bike is a blue Fleetwing with a heavy frame and is valued at approximately $75. The bike is registered with the College.
11:33 a.m. A student reported the theft of her cell phone from her coat pocket while she was at the ’Sco. The phone is a white iPhone 5 with a brown feather print case and is valued at approximately $600.
12:50 p.m. A student reported that his sister, who was visiting campus, had her wallet and cell phone stolen from her unattended purse while at the ’Sco. The wallet contained her college ID, approximately $40 and various gift cards. The cell phone is a black Samsung with a touch screen.
5:52 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Keep Cottage. The cause of the alarm was overheated oil. The smoke was cleared from the area and the alarm was reset.
7:48 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Goldsmith apartment. A strong odor consistent with burnt marijuana was detected in the stairwell leading to the second floor. The area was cleared and the alarm was reset.
8 p.m. Officers were requested to assist an elderly woman who fell and injured her knee at Finney Chapel while attending an orchestra concert. She was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
8:12 p.m. An officer patrolling Robertson Hall found a wooden desk that had been broken into pieces. A maintenance technician responded and removed the desk.
Sunday, April 14
1:10 a.m. A student reported a house party on South Professor Street at which attendance had exceeded capacity. Due to the number of people in the house and the fact that hosts were charging money for entry — a violation of College policy— the party was shut down.
1:49 a.m. Officers were requested to assist an intoxicated student at Langston Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital by ambulance.
2:14 p.m. A student reported the theft of her wallet and cell phone from her coat pocket while at the ’Sco on Friday evening. The cell phone is a black iPhone in a black OtterBox case and the wallet is a black leather single-fold. Her credit card was canceled.
4:05 p.m. A student reported that her wallet had been stolen at a party on South Professor Street. The wallet is made of purple and zebra print duct tape and contained a credit card, insurance card, driver’s license and approximately $13.
Tuesday, April 16
8:30 a.m. A member of the grounds crew reported vandalism of the World War II memorial on the south side of Finney Chapel. An unknown person(s) threw empty beer cans and the packaging into the pond. Photos were taken and the debris was removed.
2:05 p.m. A student involved in a performance in Wilder Hall reported the theft of her iPhone and wallet from a room on the second floor used to store performers’ belongings. The iPhone is white and a black case. The wallet looks like it is made of paper and has blueprints of the USS Enterprise on it. It did not contain cash but there were various cards inside.
