Thursday, April 14
3:07 a.m. Officers and the Oberlin Police Department responded to a 911 call at Barrows Hall. A search of the building was made, and it was determined there was no emergency present. At approximately 3:27 a.m., officers responded to a second 911 call. Again, a check of the building was made with no results. A fire extinguisher was found missing from a second-floor hallway. A work order was filed for replacement.
1:35 p.m. Officers, medical personnel and the Oberlin Police Department responded to a medical emergency at Harkness Hall.
7:33 p.m. A student reported the theft of her wallet from a practice room at the Conservatory. The wallet was later found in another practice room. All items were still there with the exception of $60 cash.
9:45 p.m. Dascomb staff reported a student on the roof of the building. Officers responded, and the student was advised of the dangers of his actions and came down from the roof.
9:21 p.m. A student reported the theft of her wallet from a practice room on the third floor of the Conservatory. The wallet was located and approximately $200 in cash was missing.
11:14 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Union Street apartments. The alarm activation was caused by smoke from burnt bacon. The area was cleared of smoke and the alarm reset.
Friday, April 15
7:46 p.m. A student reported his wallet missing, possibly somewhere between north campus and Mudd Library. The wallet is brown leather and contained various cards, pictures, a driver’s license and approximately $3 cash.
9:15 p.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Baldwin Cottage. A thorough search was made of the building, but the cause was not located. The alarm was silenced and reset with no further problems.
Saturday, April 16
1:27 a.m. Officers and the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Langston Hall. The building was checked, and the cause was not found. The alarm was silenced and reset.
1:30 a.m. A resident of Firelands reported a strong gas odor that appeared to be coming from the gas range. Facilities personnel responded, and staff responded to repair the problem.
9:44 p.m. Officers responded to assist a student who twisted her ankle on the stairs at Noah Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
Sunday, April 17
2:10 a.m. Officers on patrol in the area of Stevenson Hall heard loud banging and observed a suspicious person who appeared to be attempting to break into the Bike co-op. The individual fled the area and was apprehended and charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering and Disorderly Conduct. A “Special Alert” was issued.
2:33 a.m. Officers were requested to assist a student ill from alcohol consumption at Barrows Hall. The student was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital for treatment.
3:20 p.m. A student reported the theft of her purse from an unlocked/unattended practice room in the Conservatory. A check of the building was made, and the purse was located in a different area. Approximately $50 cash was missing.
4:29 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Bailey House. The cause of the alarm was smoke from burnt popcorn. The alarm was silenced and reset.
Tuesday, April 19
4:40 p.m. A student reported the theft of her iPhone4 from the women’s locker room at Philips Gym. The phone is black in color, is in a black OtterBox case and is valued at approximately $600. A report was filed with the Oberlin Police Department.
9:30 p.m. Officers responded to a report of students on the roof at East Hall. Contact was made and students came down. They were advised of college policies and the danger of being on the roof.
