Panruti Venkatesan (left) played the thavil drums and Vyasarpadi Kothandaraman and B. Kesanna played a horn-like instrument called the nadaswaram at the Thygaraja Festival last Tuesday. Their performance was one of many during the 12-hour showcase of South Indian music, film and dance hosted at the Apollo Theatre in Oberlin.
