Students gathered in the King Building Thursday evening for a teach-in on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict hosted by Students for a Free Palestine. Titled “Palestine 101,” the educational forum featured talks by double-degree first-year Alexandra Smith, College sophomore Christopher Kennedy and College first-year Nicholas Kattoura. This event was a part of the Anti-Oppression Symposium, a month-long series of panels, discussions and workshops designed to amplify marginalized voices and educate the Oberlin community about oppression and the ways it manifests in the world. Some of the symposium’s upcoming events are a Benefit Show for Oberlin Healing Justice Lending Library on Friday, March 11 at 8 p.m. in the Harkness Showspace and “(In)visibility: Living Queerness as a Person of Color” on Monday, March 14 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Wilder Hall, room to be determined. The symposium was organized by College senior Amethyst Carey.
