Oberlin resident Que Freeman, 20, was arrested by members of the Oberlin Police Department and charged with three counts of receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, on Sunday, Sept. 23. Over a three-to-five-day period, Freeman allegedly broke into Harkness House and Langston Hall and removed student property including two laptops, Beats headphones, a debit card, and various other Apple products. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 8:28 a.m. Staff reported non-offensive graffiti on the southeast corner of the exterior sandstone wall of the Science Center. A work order was led for removal. 2:24 p.m. Grounds staff reported a student on the roof of South Hall. Safety and Security officers located the student. The student came down from the roof and was advised of the safety hazards. A work order was filed for repair of a screen and window. Thursday, Feb. 26 2:30 p.m. A student reported the loss or theft of their iPhone from the Wilder Bowl area. The phone was not in a case. The estimated value of the phone was $150. 7:38 p.m. A facilities technician responded to a low temperature alarm on the first floor of Kahn Hall. The technician found the window open, causing the thermostat not to function. There was an odor of burnt incense, and the smoke detector was found off its base. Friday, Feb. 20 12:43 p.m. Officers and members of the Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the fourth floor of Noah Hall. A rapid temperature spike in the bathroom activated the detector. The alarm was reset with no further problems. The car was stopped at the intersection when a second vehicle lost control on the icy road and bumped into the rear of the first car. The bookbag is red and blue and contained a silver MacBook Air valued at $850, a small Canon camera, an iPhone charger, Apple ear buds, a book and folders. Friday, Oct. 31 3:06 p.m. Officers responded to an odor consistent with burnt marijuana on the first floor of East Hall. The occupant of the room admitted to smoking marijuana, and the officers reminded the student of College policy on smoking.
